GDPR Policy
I keep clinical records, including general and sensitive data as defined in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2018. Records are kept as a reminder during the therapeutic relationship and thereafter in case of court requests. All information is stored and used in accordance with the GDPR.
- In order to give you the best possible treatment I keep manual records, for the purposes of direct care only, of your name, contact details, DOB, GP, medication, medical & psychological health, dates of consultations, relationships, and a brief description of the therapy or treatment given or recommended. It may also include, if and only when relevant to the therapy, information on your lifestyle, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual life, criminal proceedings and offences.
- I will not pass your personal information onto any third party
- I will only use your first name in my diary and to identify your payment information.
- I may make anonymised notes for myself e.g. to use during supervision discussions, which will not relate to your personal data and are therefore not covered by the above Regulation.
- I keep records in a locked metal filing cabinet.
- You have a right to view your clinical records.
- I keep manual records for 6 years, as recommended within the counselling profession, after which they are destroyed.
- Regarding contact via mobile phone and email, my appliances are all secure and password protected. Emails are deleted when no longer appropriate to keep them. My landline is a direct number.
